I have been told by actual historians that Lincoln's first clause "The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here," was simply self-deprecating humility, ironic in retrospect, and not a very artful gibe at the preceding celebrated orator Everett, but I got my head-cannon.

Proctor’s Ledge was first identified as a possible site for the 1692 Salem executions in 1921 by Sidney Perley, but this wasn’t confirmed until January 2016 through the work of a team of researchers.

⚑ A bolt for the record books! Texas A&M Atmospheric Sciences' Dr. Timothy Logan helped confirm a lightning flash that stretched 515 milesβ€”from Texas to Kansas. The rare β€œmegaflash” is now the longest ever recorded.

Heart of the City (comic strip) - Wikipedia

How does Emmet feel about "Heart of the City" representing Philadelphia?
Prefer Tatulli or Steenz era?

Having signed panel art by Tatulli bought at Millennium Philcon, my choice is forced. πŸ˜‰

Sure, desserts, marinades, glazed vegetables, ... .
A nice old essence of oak when Chef wants that whisky flavor without getting a good bottle from the Sommelier / Chef de Bar (who'll cross-charge him $$).
A reasonable use for those surplus to blending casks that even the IBs reject.

(a) I'm not surprised you're a quick study and likely instructor.

(b) the one who learned it most recently remembers best what the next newb (or FNG in hub's world) needs to know, so last in trains next is actually a good pattern.

Was it a "Sienna" car ad that featured naming kids for where ?

Margaux Hemingway (gr.dau of writer) was spelt thusly because of the wine her parents were sharing, but that was partially self-inflicted; they named her Margot and when she got the joke, she changed it.

In colonial times, it was bad luck to marry a gal who wasn't already with-child. He needed proof he has land (or a trade) and can make it work, she needed proof she can bear children to help them.

my Dad grew up on a working farm, so such things were understood fairly young, even 9 decades ago.
His mouth got literally washed out with soap by Mom when he asked "do you and Dad always celebrate the Fourth of July?"

(from which one might infer the answer if answered would've been yes?)

(I've already told you about how flapper grandma was misunderstood by farm town she married into and eventually accepted to I shalln't repeat myself, but she and gt-aunt both were lookers in flapper pencil dress.)

reminds me that recently a FB Angel found a pic of great-grandma as a girl, and is mailing it to Mom. As tweens, Abbie looks so much like her daughter at 12. And adult photos of Abbie 30ish and daughter (gt-aunt) at 60 look pretty similar too.

OHH, that's NWS map of the CWOP & APRS &c stations.
(Unfortunate that this NOAA/NWS map doesn't have that in a legend louder than the official logo.)

Yes, the official station being on a former harbor island does give it a different microclimate than the paved canyons of downtown.

Paul Krugman Brutally Wrecks Trump’s Europe Deal: β€œScam on His Voters” As the emerging details of Trump’s trade agreement with Europe puncture his hype, economist Paul Krugman explains at length why it’s actually a big loss for our countryβ€”and especially for his MAGA bas...

Striking stuff from @pkrugman.bsky.social, who dismantles Trump's Europe deal from top to bottom. It will actually undermine US manufacturing, the "concessions" Trump won are fake, and Trump voters will be hit hard by the tariffs.
