To say I am optimistic about the short term but extremely pessimistic about the long term viability of the US political system as is would be an understatement. Our system IS the problem, but how do you get 33+ states to agree?

The GOP is really close to a 280-300 seat Dem House caucus (Dems are at least good for 230 already), and there still is math for a landslide like that even in this environment. But the GOP that will be left will be as extreme as ever, so we should be careful what we wish for.

I think the question is no longer whether Trump is going to be thrown out of office. The unknown at this point is whether it's removal after impeachment, resignation (completely plausible given Trump's history of cut and running), or death. Any of those three is possible.
