Holy shit! In London streikt gerade die Metro und plötzlich fahren hundertausende Londoner erstmalig mit dem Fahrrad zur Arbeit. Der Anbieter Lime meldete einen Anstieg um 70%. So sieht das dann aus. Das wird dem Fahrrad auch nach dem Streik einen krassen Boost geben❤️💪

5 days. 730km. 15000m gain. Sore. Broken. I've never had to fight so hard for anything in my entire life.

Finally, the Mediterranean. The End.

The most cautious 50km I've ever cycled just in case my running chain repair skills aren't up to scratch, but glad to see a bit of dutch inspired cycle infra

Leaving the petrol station my chain snapped, cos why wouldn't it 🙄

A quick break of Fanta Lemon in a petrol station car park, the glamour of cycle touring. 50km left to go, its the coast or bust!!

Apparently there's volcanoes??

Nice lunch near Ripoll then on to the final climb, Coll de Canes. It's all downhill from here right?

Got going again after about an hour and on to Collada De Toses, 22km but way less steep than previous big climbs, but at this point fatigue is making it seem just as bad

Down into Puigcerda and have never been happier to see an open bike shop. Noticed yesterday a split opening up on my rear rim and its been a lottery if I'd make it here before it failed. Thank you Velo Monkey for the new wheel, you saved my trip!

A long 24km descent out of the cloud cover, briefly into France and back into Spain for the town of Puigcerda

Starting off riding through the clouds with a 6km descent into a short 3km climb onto Col de Puymorens

Day 5, found a local cafe that opened early and they make ensaïmadas!! What a nice surprise

Then a short downhill to Pas de la Casa for the night, chased by heavy thunderstorms I arrived utterly done in and just in time to stay dry before the heavens opened. Lovely luxury airbnb to enjoy for the night.

After the very long and technical descent, which took way longer than expected, a long drag slightly uphill to La Seu d'Urgell and on to Andorra, awful chaotic urban roads with a lot of traffic and little peace and on to the Port d'Envalira, the longest and highest of the trip

A little way off the top is a newly built viewing platform

Downhill run to Sort then the 18km Port del Cantó, was worried about this one as there's nothing at all on the climb so you have to have enough food and water on you, but it was cool and cloudy so quite a relief

Kicked off day 4 bowing to temptation of the hotel breakfast, which didn't start till 8 so I was over and hour later out than I've been planning, but really couldn't resist at this point. Can't take anymore 7am Haribo breakfasts

A very technical descent with only 2km staying dry then the next round of storm came rolling over the mountain. With another 18km to descend in slashing rain and high wind, probably the worst weather I've ever had to ride in. Never been more glad to get to a hot shower.

The lovely town of Vielha marks the start of the Port de la Bonaigua, the longest climb so far at 22km but a fairly benign 6% temps fell pretty quick and in the last 8km the thunderstorms hit hard with high winds, rain and lightning, cleared just in time for the summit

After a delayed lunch in Luchon straight onto Col de Portillon, my last in France as the border is at the summit. Steeper and very hot, but again beautiful views going down and some Tour history
