I even asked staff, and they were likewise stumped

Solution: use RailEurope.com instead!

Guess which one carries more people, takes up less space, emits less noise, is better for the planet, better for peace of mind, makes for a faster journey… I could go on for hours.

Back then, when I rarely took the local TER from Boulouris, I was the only one getting off.

Today? Trains are busy and popular.

If your region complains about low ridership, it’s because they’re doing it wrong.

If there’s one French region that went from “sucking massively” to “awesome,” it’s PACA.

From 2012 to 2024, I stopped using the TER from Boulouris because of poor frequency, no sync with other TER/TGV…

Hell, I was walking 45 min to St Raphael since TER wasn’t reliable.

And just like that, 16 hrs after leaving Rome 🇮🇹

I’m in Saint-Raphael, my holiday place that made me fall in love with night trains. Such a pleasure to see a direct international night train from here!

I hope that this will be more regular in the future!

I was granted access to TTI Premium day time offer, the Salottino.

It’s an accommodation I already reviewed last year between Nice and Milan and it was OUTSTANDING! 😍

Here, both of our E402s are being removed and a BB22000 from SNCF is going to haul us until Marseille 🇫🇷

Last year, SNCF couldn’t spare an engine due to the Olympics (🤡) and a diesel from Lineas had to run between Nice and the border!

Not anymore 🎉

During the whole morning (or evening if going from Marseille -> Rome), a musician is here in the dining car… such a vibe 🙌

The train left Rome at 19:57.

Service in the @diningcar.at started at 20:30. The three course dinner is included with your sleeping car ticket.

No need to say that it was DELICIOUS 🤤

I tried TTI’s night trains last year between Rome and Calalzo.
Back then, I was blown away by the quality of their sleeping cars. This year, they seem to have raised the bar even higher with a brand-new interior: larger beds, more comfortable seats… and just look at the toilets, it’s insane 🤯

Welcome onboard the #EspressoRiviera Rome 🇮🇹 – Marseille 🇫🇷 2025 edition, operated by Treni Turistici Italiani (TTI).

Unlike last year, when it only operated during the day between Nice and Milan, it now runs overnight every week between Rome and Marseille!

We made it to Rome around 10:45, about 40 minutes late (no explanation given…)

The feeling of falling asleep in the Alps and waking up in the heart of Italy is truly something special! 🙌

By the way, my night was short since the compartment next to me was a family with kids that started to cry from 06:00.

Night trains can’t be always perfect folks 😅

Sleeping and waking up next to the window is such a special feeling, these new Nightjet sleeping cars nailed it perfectly 🙌

Each compartment in sleeping car is equipped with an en-suite shower! 🚿

Not the best pressure but it did the job 🙌

Tonight I’ll sleep in the lower bed, but I noticed the upper bed was fresher, which is an issue. Since the AC vents are on the roof, the upper bed is quite cold, while the lower one gets no air and sits right next to the heating vent by the window.

For dinner, I ordered from the onboard menu:

Chicken curry (reheated in the sleeping car) and a drink for €12.70. Not the best, but it did the job!

Still, it’s definitely nicer to bring your own food onboard, folks.

I booked this compartment as a single for €550. It’s definitely not cheap, but at least I’m not sharing it with a total stranger (sharing would’ve cost me around €300).

Honestly, sharing such an intimate space would feel pretty awkward, imo
