The Wright brothers' claims to be able to fly were not universally believed, because *many people* were making the same claims. And before anyone started buying their aircraft, they performed hundreds of public displays, to prove they could do it.

Can’t find it now, but someone clarified my thinking on generative AI by saying it’s about the number of choices going into a creative work
Even a fine-tuned prompt involves orders of magnitude fewer choices vs writing a short story, painting a little picture, etc etc
The choices are the creativity

When making a comic for example, you find yourself in deep water a lot. That scene you had an idea for? You don't really know how to block it out, how to make it come to life. So you research, you think, you work. AI bros think just having the idea is the thing. It's barely the entry point.

In my professional life I am constantly reminding app developers that Android users, in particular, cannot be assumed to use their phones the way Google would like, and they *have* to cater for those who reject Google.

That a *protocol* would make this false assumption is truly shocking.
