Coming up with extracurricular clubs and organizations for my Fantasy University playtest of Fables & Foxtales, and I just had the "brilliant" idea of having a Tabletop club. Cause why not? 🤭

Lately, my big project is to complete the playtest for my #indie #ttrpg system, Fables & Foxtales. And in traditional fashion, I've gone big and ambitious. I'm going to run a semester of a fantasy 'adventuring academy'! And its proving to be...well, a lot.

Why do I do these things to myself? xD

I personally find that imbibing media with the types of characters I want to play tends to get my brain in the right headspace.

Also consider what grounds their meanness has as part of their personality. If you can empathize with why they choose to be that way, you can connect with them better ^^

My bestie is just outside of the evac zones for one of them and it's kept me on edge most of the day, so totally get where your heart's at. Hope your hobbies bring you some peace.

I've had players whose eye lit up at the prospect of puzzles, and others look at me with genuine disgust.

But my favorites are definitely monster-puzzles: enemies that can't be killed the traditional way (or at least, not all the way), and have a puzzle element to their defeat!

I get asked a lot why I prefer to run #ttrpgs in #pbp instead of live. There are a lot of reasons that I could list.

But for me biggest one is connection. I feel more tethered to characters when writing their thoughts and feelings, and having extra time to think about how they'd react. Thoughts?
