Six days ago, the Trump administration strong-armed ABC and Disney into suspending Jimmy Kimmel.

Thousands of Americans spoke out to protest this blatant attack on free speech, and now Kimmel will return to television tomorrow.

Never doubt the power of collective action.

There is no world in which it is normal for the president to publicly call upon his attorney general to hurry up and prosecute his political foes. It’s like the Watergate tapes but posted on social media. Let’s get a grip on what’s happening here.

I know it’s hard to believe, but we do have liberals in Alabama.

I hope being woke is not dead. That would mean that empathy and compassion for those different than us is a thing of the past. I still have hope decency will one day prevail.

Kimmel, however, didn’t say anything bad about Kirk. All he said was that MAGA was scrambling to prove they had nothing to do with it before all the facts came in. He expressed his condolences to Kirk’s family and denounced the violence. He has nothing to apologize for.

Living a moral life in an age of bullies requires collective action; it cannot be done alone. Each of us must organize and participate in a vast network of moral resistance. From this solidarity we will grow stronger. This is what our current moment requires.

No one should be above public scrutiny.
