noise from being like 31 people I think? maybe the few people who mark themselves as NB are unusual in various ways - in general online samples are high % AIs themselves but maybe NBs are people?

many people agree the expression "I feel you" is violating and creepy just FYI

I looked out of curiosity, probably not this one but I'm impressed he exists www.etsy.com/listing/1699...

if I was going to get a yarn bowl it would be from etsy I'm ignorant beyond that but it does sound like a lovely gift

knitted! I appreciate you even knowing there's a distinction lol

thank you - I've always wanted to try it but just now getting around to it, usually my work is more random/organic

14.04.2024 16:24 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

actually 22 not 11 but basically the same (so each border takes 22 stitches to work both sides)

14.04.2024 16:21 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

yes exactly! I just measured the distance on my swift for the length of the skein and measured how much length stitches took and based the pattern on that (turned out to be a clean multiple of 11 so I went with 11s and just doubled the stitch count every section with a border of 11 each side)

14.04.2024 16:19 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

and thank you!

I just made it up as I went along, it's just feather and fan over 11 or 22 stitch repeats with a border and sections of...let's call it "purse stitch" (it has a very hurtful and hilarious traditional name)

14.04.2024 16:15 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I'm working on one that uses actual digits of pi to approximate the spiderweb/buggy appearance of AI-generated stuff so maybe it will end up being a true pi shawl we'll see

14.04.2024 16:12 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 3    ๐Ÿ” 1    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

"pi shawl" is a silly name in my opinion because the only relevant mathematical relationship is between the circumference of a circle of unit radius and the circumference of a circle of double that radius (aka 2) so it should really be called a TWO shawl if we're being real

ikat dyeing yarn in indigo

ikat dyeing yarn in indigo

I wanted to try ikat dyeing where you kind of space dye yarn and then work it up so the dyed part overlays every row but I hate rectangles so I made it a "pi shawl"

being extremely fatigued is kind of like being super cold or super hot in that it sucks if it is forced upon you but if it's chosen it's kind of a pleasant bodily experience (cold plunge, sauna etc.)

I'm glad I took a few before photos because I'm kind of starting from nothing here, if anything grows at all it will be a huge improvement (I took out the locust suckers already though I have enough locust trees)

hurriedly half-assing a path with random pavers I found in the garage one hour before 23 plants get delivered all at once and need to go in the ground in between and around them

it looks exactly like a circa-2008 study of a few dozen undergrads and a sketchy transparent manipulation with a "power analysis" tacked on lol

best part of aging is plants get real interesting and you can replace your personality with them

11.04.2024 05:57 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I just want them to look cool and smell nice for now but maybe! also I have heard the vines are delicious to eat

I also rooted some ivy cuttings from trying to get my ivy under control - don't want to put them in the ground but I might put them in bigger pots and let them cook

it's weird that "grass roots" has positive connotations like they are pretty bad actually

10.04.2024 15:22 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 5    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 3    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

oh also the main trick is to cast on a lot of stitches (168-700 for these examples) and work horizontally, it works up SO MUCH FASTER when you only do a few rows instead of doing it vertically and turning your work every 30 seconds
