Trump’s tariffs give him a new way to dole out reward and punishment The president's latest power grab will devastate America's economy—and its democracy.

Tariffs will be a potent and unilateral mechanism for reintroducing systematic corruption into our economy.

First, Trump can raise or lower tariffs unilaterally.

Second, he can grant exemptions, forcing people, corporations, localities, nations, and foreign actors to seek reprieve on bended knee.

The idea that tariffs will bring manufacturing jobs back:
Building a factory takes long term planning & 3-5yrs to complete.
By then we will have a new President with their own agenda or Trump may back off of these sooner.
Why would a CEO make a massive investment like that w/so many unknowns?
