Great photo. The very first wild edible mushroom I ever found many years ago. Brings back memories. It was in S. Ontario near Detroit. Curious what area you found it? Thanks for sharing πŸ‘ŠπŸ„

Hey Rob , this kinda looks to be something called Witches Hat, Wax cap mushrooms. Hygrocybe conica. Cannot verify completely with just these pics but strong resemblance to them and also the black is a natural mechanism of the aging. They eventually all turn black. Great pic thanks for sharing

Nice, yeah usually quite abundant and large flushes in the spring. If you pull up the mushroom and look underneath you will see a lot of mycelium in the leaves and debris its fruiting from. Thanks for sharing DanielπŸ‘ŠπŸ„

Hello Alan. I met you while you were foraging on the Coast for this trip. We were camping at the park when you and Aaron and Caleb were there. You said to stay in touch. Great meeting you. Regular dehydrator, on lower temp setting. I can freeze dry, but TBH its pretty simple. Ratio of H20 depends on how much I am processing. I also if there is more liquid after extraction, I often reduce the liquid separately, so when I puree, it comes out like pancake batter. Reduces drying timeπŸ‘ŠπŸ„

Depends on the end result you want to achieve. Personally I always extract under pressure with water for compounds, then I would puree the whole, (liquid+fruiting bodies) then dehydrate on silicone sheet, then once dry, powder with blender, then use as supplement daily in my coffee or foodstuffπŸ‘ŠπŸ„
