DHS was created from existing agencies taken from other Departments and adding a new layer of administrative patronage jobs on top. The patronage jobs were for Bush the Dumber to pass out to those "who were with him." Democrats were looking at their eventual turn at the wheel and went along with it.

DHS is making the US a less safe place by the day. I do not understand why anyone would want to travel or move there while Homeland Security systematically tramples the rights of even its own citizens. How can anyone be safe if even citizens are not safe from them?

But weโve had FEMA since Jimmy Carter was president, long before DHS came along.
And the Coast Guard? Which is also part of DHS?

DHS didnโt exist before, so it can be dismantled. How were the responsibilities split before 9/11? Split them again BUT optimize communication betw agencies.
Look at pre-9/11 failures & address those without a centralized DHS. Other countries manage to be secure without violating human rights!
