The @texashdcc showed true courage by standing up to a corrupt plan designed to protect Trump. Dems have been the last line of defense while Abbott & his Republicans worked behind doors to erase communities of color from the map, dismantle fair representation & lock in power for the next decade.

I’m proud to stand with these brave lawmakers. As Donald Trump & Republicans look to rig House elections in other states, I encourage anyone who cares about making sure we have free and fair maps to speak up. I will keep fighting to protect our democracy & to make sure every Texan’s voice counts.

Walking out isn’t a political stunt; it’s an act of courage to defend the rights of millions of Texans whose voices & votes are being stripped away behind closed doors.

Texans deserve fair maps, fair representation & fair elections, not gerrymandered districts that put politicians above the people.

When lawmakers manipulate district lines to choose their voters, instead of voters choosing their leaders our democracy is under direct attack. These maps carve up Black, brown & working-class communities to dilute their power in exchange for protecting Donald Trump & his unpopular political agenda.

I stand in full support of my fellow Texas legislators who broke quorum to stop an outrageous, undemocratic, and racist redistricting plan designed to silence communities and rig the maps for political gain.

They didn’t listen to the public. They didn’t care about fairness. This was about power—plain and simple.

This map is a disaster —crafted to divide neighborhoods & rig the game for Trump. It’s a desperate move from a party losing its grip on a changing state.
