Just saw @realgdt.bsky.socialβs take on Mary Shelleyβs βFrankensteinβ, a magnificent, moving work of art. I wasnβt expecting to see human anatomyβmuscles/sinews/lymphatic systemβfilmed so beautifully! The creature is achingly beautiful & illustrates our own monstrosity when facing the unknown/other.

The effects & body horror elements were perfect & didn't rely simply on gore for shock value (plus I'm a sucker for practical effects <3).
Oh, and whoever came up with the idea for the Monster to have a tapetum lucidum solely in his left eye deserves a cookie!

A post on Mastodon by small cypress (@small_cypress@indieweb.social): As an art teacher I was worried AI would come up as an issue of "why should I learn how to draw when I can use AI instead." But the real issue is that my middle schoolers CONSTANTLY believe all art I show them is AI. Digital art. Photography. Oil paintings from the Western canon. "A human couldn't do that" Being convinced that humans can't make great art is kind of terrifying
I spotted this on Mastodon and I find it horrible, not least for the speed with which this has happened.

Four hours later and I've lost an arm and adopted a rat baby who I regularly feed with my own blood.

Shadow is a church grim and a shapeshifter. This is her primary form but she can alter her appearance to appear more like a living dog or a human.

The worst was when my rabbit (who I helped raise from newborn) passed away suddenly and a colleague commented that I should feed his body to my dogs to save money...
