Life in Alaska... dip netting for red salmon in the Kenai River. In contrast to rod-and-reel fishing, which we call "combat fishing" here, the vibe is totally chill. It's a little community on the shore, with people cheering each other on and helping as needed.

Working my way through the latest issue of Analog and was impressed with "Fixative" by Jonathan Olfert. Kind of story that needs to be read twice to pick up all details and see how it locks together. Perfect blend of compassion for the human condition and hard science fiction. And nailed the ending.
