Ooh! I noticed one food item that actually has DROPPED in price! A loaf of velveeta cheese is now $1 cheaper in my area compared to last year. Ain't that grand? 😂

It's a little scary to see some of the halloween (food) items come back in the grocery stores and think, "Yup. That costs $3 more than it did last year." Gives me a very sick feeling.

I'm currently taking a news break, as I'm pretty damn sure it's a main contributor to my depression.

It's been a few weeks and tbh I'm shocked at how *present* I feel. 😳

Debating when to jump back in, as I know it's privilege to step out in the first place and I do gaf about what's happening.

My MIL died from cancer, at home with us, July 2020. A few months later my estranged-FIL also died from cancer. I'm very familiar with how complicated and difficult All Things Medical were at that time. Hospital workers have my utmost respect for what they went through. It wasn't a fucking hoax. 🤬

A neighbor posted about losing her dad during covid (but not DUE to covid) and I was about to comment my sympathies, but then she started talking about how covid was "overblown" and not as dangerous as they claimed.

If I had a nickel for every time I saw a commercial/ad for those damn GLP-1 drugs I'd be halfway to purchasing a cruise. 🤬 I'm SO FUCKING TIRED of being pelted with weight loss ads!! STOP IT ALREADY!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Have you ever realized that you just, like, stopped talking to people? I have a handful of friends whom I treasure dearly, but yesterday I realized that I've only been talking to 1. For months. o_O

I wonder if she thought that might be her last time at a beach. Probably not, as hanging the shoes seems such an, "I'll get back to this later" type of thing.

Cancer sucks.

This weekend I resumed cleaning out my in-laws bedroom after a yr+ break. (We shared a home together.) Hanging on the closet doorknob was a plastic grocery bag with a pair of shoes in it. My MIL had put her shoes in the bag so she wouldn't track sand in the house.

I feel like the more I try to focus on work, the less I'm able to focus on work. It's so frustrating. 😭

-that this is self-harm wrapped in a different package. When I was in high school/college I would SH in times of extreme stress. I think I'm buckling from the need to stay informed because I care about people. Keep saying I should take a break from social media, but it's also a source of joy. :(

For the past month+ I've been sleep procrastinating every night. I've done that before in much much smaller doses. Not EVERY night. I'm also not stopping to eat when I'm REALLY hungry, often ignoring it for most of the day. Which isn't good for a variety of reasons.

It's currently 5:40 am and I'm not in bed yet. I know I need to get up "early" to finish work and yet I still don't want to get in bed. >_<

Also, it pisses me off (and always has) that countries with nuclear weapons insist that countries WITHOUT nuclear weapons just.. not make their own. And said countries with nuclear weapons clutch them tightly and claim "national defense," like no one else wants that for themselves. 🙄

My bestie is very likely about to lose her home in a wildfire. They evacuated two days ago, but she had to leave behind most of her poultry. 😭

We're over 3400 miles apart, so I can't be there to hold her hand or make sure she eats.

The chain of destruction goes even further. My hubs pulls orders at a home-improvement store. Past few weeks he’s had less and less to do. One customer said she’d had to cut down on jobs because of ICE, which means she’s ordering fewer products. This impacts everything.

Many of us here were screaming about Project 2025 and pointing out the things he said he was going to do and how disastrous it would be. Like, a LOT. We've been taken over by a cult. (Literally.)

Every night I go out and check my garden, and it's always fascinating what I find.

I have 2 part time jobs, one of which I've had for 15 years. I have no idea what I'll do if my boss ever decides to close up shop.
