No Evidence of Hate Crime in Transgender Man’s Killing in Upstate N.Y., Investigators Say Law enforcement officials in upstate New York say that the torture and killing of Sam Nordquist, 24, did not appear to be a hate crime.

If a transman is murdered because they're trans by anyone it is a hate crime.

"Law enforcement officials said on Sunday that some or all of the five people charged with murder in connection with the killing were themselves members of L.G.B.T.Q. communities."
