As an old, short, right-handed, woman fencer, one might think I would suck at this sport, but I beat up the tall leftie boys all the time. More to the point: a trans woman is a woman regardless of the supposed advantages they might have, and would be welcomed in any event I fence. 🥰

Vieux Lille

First fencing tournament of 2025: Lille, France. 🥈Silver in 50+WS, and had to beat the current world champion for it. Love that they give out beer and waffles with the medal!

I have rants about Heart of Darkness too. The hardest 110-page book I ever had to get through. We also did Lord of the Flies, the Chrysalids, and Flowers of Algernon, all of which I couldn't stand, but also The Handmaid's Tale before it was cool.

I just bought a bigger jacket. 😂 Still trying to make the velcro on the breeches close properly though...

Faytene also lost, which makes me even happier.

For fencing, French is the official language, so the referee says "En garde. Pret? Allez!" regardless of what country we're in. (Except for Brits, who say "Ready? Play!" even though we don't "play" fencing.) And then we all argue with the ref in English regardless of what countries we're all from.
