Listening to Kendrick, being pissed at Trump, doing dumb make-em-ups with @grapesofbath.bsky.social… it’s like 2016 but terrifying.

Hookland otters (Lutra Lutra Hooklandii) love to feast on white water lilies and enjoy the psychotropic properties of the plants. If you are lucky you may spot an otter chewing on the white flowers, dreaming and floating in the Field of Prophecy, in the waters of the Restal Wastesn πŸ€πŸΎπŸŒ€

Did you develop a lifelong complex regarding your use of the word β€œI” from repeatedly hearing Mia’s big speech at the end of first Princess Diaries film, or are you normal?

We’ve been together for nine years and I must have had this come up a minimum of thirty five times, which is so excessive and consistent that I almost have to believe he’s the only one who does it

This photograph depicts a poem printed in a book. The poem is: Fifty words written about the Arctic bowhead whale after learning they can live up to two hundred years by Nate DeMio.

The poem reads:
There is a whale swimming right now / who may have escaped a Nantucketer's harpoon in 1850 / and a Japanese ship in 1950 / who onde heard the distant songs of 50,000 of her kind / then several thousand / then hundreds / but who can hear 25,000 again / singing in the warming water

Thinking about this poem this morning. Near misses, scraping by, bouncing back, and the big warm whatever comes next.

If Bill Hader and John Mulaney wrote a Stefon but all the clubs are in Oklahoma it would include a couple dancing like they’re redneck versions of Julianne and Derek Hough (but are making out too much to be siblings)

Sabrina Carpenter wrote a song about how her boyfriend β€œmight make [her] Juno (2007),” however it is clear from Please Please Please and Lie to Girls that she knew the more probable outcome was Juno (1959 broadway musical)

A selection of around a dozen porcelain dolls in a mirror backed display case. The dolls have a range of clothing and hair styles with variance in era (Victorian dress for example) and culture (a boy in lederhosen, for example), but not in ethnicity. All of the dolls are white.

Front and center is a doll wearing King’s attire, including a crown and cloak. His expression is serene. To his right is a cow figurine wearing a dress with a hat, and is holding a floral bouquet. She’s gently smiling.

This display case has four dolls.

The smallest is about four inches tall. She is an old woman with a porcelain face sitting at a table covered in miscellaneous house goods from the early 1900s, such as tied scrolls, a handbag, a small milk pitcher, candles, and more.

To her left is a figure about six inches tall on a one inch wooden platform. Her face is made of a very finely knit fabric. She is an old knit goods sales woman wearing many layers of cold weather clothing including a cloak, and she is holding a bag of her wares.

Behind her is a taller figurine, around ten inches, who is made of porcelain. She is wearing what I believe to be traditional Ukrainian clothing including a jaunty hat and fuzzy earrings.

Finally, the tallest figurine is around a foot tall. His face and hands are very finely knit, and because he was purchased around a hundred years ago he is wearing a tag reading β€œRussian peasant from Ukraine.” He has blue eyes and a sweet smile. His blonde hair is mostly hidden by a golden yellow hat.

A display of antique dolls, one of whom is wearing Victorian style dress and making a terrified facial expression. To her right is a blonde doll wearing 1920s dress with an expression that says β€œI’m over it.” Reflected in the mirrors back of the display is me, Beth, making a matching terrified facial expression and holding my phone.

A white wall has a plaque reading: ELIZA CRUCE HALL DOLL COLLECTION.
ELIZA CRUCE HALL GAVE HER PRIZED DOLL COLLECTION TO THE ARDMORE PUBLIC LIBRARY IN 1971. SHE HAD SPENT THIRTY FIVE YEARS COLLECTING DOLLS FROM AROUND THE WORLD AND AS SHE APPROACHED HER EIGHTIETH BIRTHDAY, SHE DECIDED IT WAS TIME TO PROVIDE FOR THEIR FUTURE, SHE WANTED CHILDREN TO ENJOY HER DOLLS AS THEY HAD ON VISITS TO HER HOME, AND SHE CHOSE THE LIBRARY AS A PERFECT NEW HOME FOR HER CHERISHED COLLECTION. THREE WEEKS AFTER THE DEDICATION OF THE COLLECTION, MRS HALL DIED DURING AN AFTERNOON NAP.
MRS, HALL HAD LIVED IN ARDMORE SINCE HER FATHER BROUGHT THE FAMILY HERE FROM MARION: KENTUCKY IN 1896, HER FAMILY WAS INFLUENTIAL IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF ARDMORE AND THE STATE, HER UNCLE LEE CRUCE WAS THE SECOND GOVERNOR OF OKLAHOMA.

On the left side of the photo is a twilight themed reading nook, with red and black checkered carpet and red walls.
