Popular TCGs are all nesting dolls of organized gambling and speculation. It's meme stocks and ramshackle markets all the way down.

This is close to my feelings. The organized games all filled up quickly, and while there were interesting seminars held, all of that happened in an area that the casual attendee could very easily miss. Very much an informed fan expectation.

Chewy. I'm still working out the flavor.

A strange little convention, Dragonmeet. I had a ball, but I think it needs another couple of years to figure out how best to use the ExCel's massive, featureless space.

My suggestions: more social space, bring the panels and seminars forward, promote non-commercial activities among attendees.

So, we started our own worker-owned, reader-supported website so we can continue the fearless, passionate, necessary work by our own rules.

After Vox Media sold Polygon to Valnet, a few of us ended up at rogue.site, where we're doing reader-supported games writing, reviews, guides, podcasts.

No safety tool would have been able to prevent the extreme bleed that O/U induced in many.

But the whole community took care of each other, and, more than that, the constant bleed led to incredible moments of roleplaying, storytelling, and out-of-character connection.

The bleed was the game.
