When I think of the brutality of the junta & its militias, I think a lot about the horrific murder of Phoe Tay and Thar Htaung. After they were killed, supporters of the revolution shared images (presumably AI generated) to remember them & be used instead of the horrific videos of their death.

The number of civilian fatalities by air and drone strikes has grown year on year since 2021. In 2025 as of the 1st May aerial attacks account for nearly 60% of civilian fatalities.

Graph shows Civilian fatalities by type of attack in Myanmar. Showing a breakdown of each year total with the bar of each graph divided into colours for type of attack. key aspect is that in 2021 there were very few fatalities by airstrike, with ground attacks & shooting of protesters dominating. In 2025 to date the vast majority of civilian deaths have been by airstrike.
