Conflict is a word to describe situations and clashes of all kinds, not just ones solved with violence. It is a broad and neutral term. Hope this helps.

Conflict is not a word that has positive nor negative connotations. It is neutral. The world is more than black and white.

What happens if you stop breathing? What happens when you stop eating? How do you resolve these things?

Your definition of conflict is too limited. We are literally having a conflict right now that will not be resolved with violence, nor are either of us in any danger. And yet it is still conflict.

The idea that conflict can only be resolved with violence appears to the foundation of this misunderstanding.
In this instance, the conflict is resolved in a different way.

Pooh just being hungry and craving honey is conflict. I think your misunderstanding comes from your limited definition of the word. Hope this helps.

Rabbit getting frustrated with tigger is conflict. Roo getting lost in the woods is conflict. The animals' bias and fear of the heffalimp is conflict. Piglet trying to rescue the cast from the bottom of a pit is conflict.

Winnie the Pooh getting stuck in the entrance of rabbits burrow is conflict. Pooh needs to get out of the entrance, but he cannot. That is the very essence of conflict.

Conversations are conflict. An exchange of ideas is conflict. Unless we become a hivemind, as long as we have different thoughts and opinions, there will be conflict. Conflict is a spectrum and how we co-exist is the resolution of conflict.

The conflict of personalities and exchange of ideas. Unless they're sitting silent in a room side by side in a comatose state, there will be interaction.
"What do you want for dinner?"
"I want a hot dog."
"Nah, let's make pasta."

That is still conflict.

Entertaining weather reports are not about the information, they are about the person giving you that information. The conflict of the presenter between the information and the audience meant to receive it.
Documentaries are the most conflict-laden stories out there because it's straight from life.

Slice of Life still has conflicts!
- A character struggles to cook a meal and buy groceries is conflict.
- A character has a crush on another character, but doesn't know if those feelings would be reciprocated.
- A character finds and adopts a stray cat.
Those are still conflicts.

Conflict is so broad that it can be broken into infinite categories: Man vs Man, Man vs Nature, Man vs Self... You asking yourself that question is Man vs Self. If there is no conflict, there is no story.
