I’m supposed to be finishing Cassidy’s When the Wolf Comes Home, but I can’t pull myself away from Heart Lamp (the international booker prize winner of 2025)!!!!!!!!! Mushtaq has made me weep, I love all of them.

That “ironic” homophobia and transphobia does a serious number on you. When you’re worried about which slur you can use and who you can use it on, coupled with the weird ass “I had an alt right teenage phase” influencers, who often continue to dance around right wing “humor”. It’s just not healthy

Before I left Twitter, I saw countless people attempting to clout chase with new rage bait — like a woman who explicitly entered Folsom for the sole purpose of being scandalized, or men who pay to attend circuit parties with the intention of being offended they are at said circuit party.

It’s not right wing propaganda, I don’t keep many friends my age because it’s jarring. There’s this want to be seen as queer, but general anger at queer culture; much of their offense is right wing, Fox News hack outrage masked as “reporting”.

It’s the same people who refuse to support queer lit, but bemoan the lack of representation… like sureeeeeeee

@olgaravn.bsky.social “The Wax Child” was an eerie read that kept drawing me back in. The shifting composition, at times reading like poetry, taking the form of letters, all through this seemingly limitless narrator. It was a lovely read.

I read it a year back and it was such a stunning novel. I love her style terribly.
