Chapman said there were plans to talk about the decisions UKRI has made with stakeholders, but:

"We were not able to do that because of information leaks outside the organisation and so we ended up having to rush comms out when we hadn’t done that engagement, for which I am very sorry"

I could only follow a bit before going to endless meetings, but Chi Onwurah was doing a great job at challenging Ian Chapman on the recent UKRI developments.

As I've posted on before, heritability is one of the most commonly confused concepts in public (mis)understanding of genetics. πŸ‘‡

Screenshot from Irish Times article: "The researchers said the high volume of rain that fell in the seven days up to and including Storm Chandra turned the heavy but β€œnot particularly remarkable” rainfall into a β€œdevastating” flood event.

They found the magnitude of the rainfall over the full week was 9 per cent greater than it would have been in the cooler Earth that existed before climate change.

β€œWe would have expected similar seven-day rainfall to happen once in every 150 years,” they said."
