Had fun at the L.A. Festival of Books today! The rain couldn't keep me away. What better way to celebrate Independent Bookstore Day than in a place where so many indie bookstores were gathered?

That is good to know, thank you! I can mentally prepare for that when I read the second book.

I am not too far in yet but am enjoying it very much!

A little Sunday reading with Nina (S.E. Hinton's The Outsiders, All Good People Here by Ashley Flowers, and Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir) before my book club meeting later today to discuss Sarah Abulhawa's Against the Loveless World. I'm very much looking forward to the discussion.

I finished watching Agatha All Along tonight, and now I can't get the Ballad of the Witches' Road out of my head.

We finally decorated the tree. My teen wanted her dad and I to put on wigs (long pink tresses for him, long blue curls for me). She was decked out in costume jewelry, hair ribbons galore, and bright blue lipstick. We wore our Santa hats. She was surprised we went along with it, but it was so fun!

I'm sorry to hear you've been struggling too. Your mention of middle grade books reminded me I want to read the 3rd Amari book in B.B. Alston's series. Reading MG is a good idea. I may also borrow something from my daughter's manga shelves.

My ability to focus on reading has been terrible this month. But I finished 3 books yesterday that I'd been slowly working my way through, all good--so am feeling good about that. Now to decide what to take with me to read while my teen is getting a chest x-ray today. Something funny and light.

I read Octavia E. Butler's Kindred this past summer and tonight finished reading the graphic novel adaptation of Kindred for my book club which meets tomorrow. Like before, I find myself needing to just sit here, unmoving, in the quiet for awhile.
