I was considering doing a civ VII thread of my own, but this summarizes a lot of my feelings. Kinda bummed. Hopefully it grows on me the same way civ VI managed to, and I'll have another civ game to put 1000+ hrs into.

Communications platforms like Slack and Teams let you invite people to huddle but not cuddle and I think that says something about society.

I managed to play a few hours yesterday and.. it's rough. It's hard to tell so far HOW rough, because 5hrs isnt nearly enough to judge systems and design in a game like civ. UI is bad though, and there's just a general lack of available info, and game settings (map size/type) 😬

I have the game installed at home, and this screen keeps taunting me at work every time I open Steam 😭

The way I see it, AI slop is appealing in 1 specific aspect: BIG. In genres where "big" is a substantial part of the selling point (openworld), bigger, which AI can technically do, sounds like better. Of course thats a surface-level way of thinking and in reality it would be utter garbage content.

I keep seeing bad Switch 2 puns all over my timeline, and I'm all for it.
