Watch ‘Rebel Moon’ and you’ll regret every bad thing you ever said about anything ‘Star Wars’

I would take any piece of Star Wars over Rebel Moon!

The Ewok cartoon: FINE!

The Resistance cartoon: FINE!

The Holiday Special…uh…um…err…huh..

…Actually you know what? I probably would take the Holiday Special over Rebel Moon! It’s at least entertainingly bad at times!

After I was finished suffering through that six-hour slog, I was tempted to dig up every piece of Star Wars media I had ever said a bad word about, and APOLOGIZE to it! We never knew how good we had it!

And I implore anyone who’s tempted to argue my rankings to go and watch ‘Rebel Moon’ first. Director’s cut, both parts. I refuse to continue having to suffer that experience in isolation. It makes the worst ‘Star War’ movies and show look GREAT! Really puts in perspective how good we’ve got it!

5. The Rise of Skywalker

3. The Last Jedi
2. A New Hope
1. The Empire Strikes Back

I feel like if an elected official commits multiple felonies, and runs for office again, voting for that person should ideally be at least a misdemeanor? Punishable by fine? It really feels like a form of aiding and abetting a criminal.

It goes on and on like this. All Mamdani had to do was not hate the Dems QUITE enough to their liking, and the leftists turn on him.

You'd think after a fucking DECADE or so of Trump repeatedly proving that politics doesn't obey the same principles as social media cancel culture, it would sink in.

Self love includes self discipline. Holding yourself to account. Taking care of yourself.

I hope you’re finding gentle ways to do so, in these weird times.

multicultural societies don't work as long as you don't count the single wealthiest, most powerful society in human history or any of the other successful ones

Has the backlash-to-the-backlash against Neil Gaiman started yet? I’ve noticed major news publications have quite recently been putting out articles praising his works. Is that a common sign for this sort of thing?

Hot take: the Rian Johnson Benoit Blanc movies are more true to the spirit of Agatha Christie mysteries (smart, ensemble driven, all clues in plain sight, everyone confused about the detective's cultural background) than the Kenneth Branagh adaptations of actual Agatha Christie titles

Always grinds my gears when people say "No one would work drudge jobs if there was a UBI"

But even staying completely capitalist, I disagree. If I received a baseline living-wage UBI, and then I was offered REWARDS for drudge jobs, I'd take it! I want to save up for treats and travel and hobbies!

It depends:

When it’s time for us to blame and heap scorn on them, then YES!

They do have control over their urges.

When it’s time to engage with them, try to get them to change their behaviour or atone for their misdeeds, then NO!

They’re animals who are incapable of change.

🤬😤

And while we mourn her passing, we want to uplift her work and her own words too. Alice was a powerhouse — her impact on the world, on disability justice, on so many of us at ASAN, cannot be overstated."

Alice was a friend, an ally, a mentor, a force to be reckoned with, and now she is a disabled ancestor. In 2023, Alice was the awardee of ASAN's Harriet McBryde Johnson Award for Nonfiction for her book Year of the Tiger, and ongoing work on the Disability Visibility Project. She also spoke at ASAN's 2019 Gala, reflecting on action and community in a way that still rings true today. "So, why do we want to take action? For me, it’s because I care deeply about a lot of things and I want to create change. What do you care about? Maybe it’s public transit, horrible sidewalks, climate change, or gentrification.…And your view of the world is unique and invaluable, no matter what others may say." Alice Wong, ASAN Gala 2019.

"Personally, I am exhausted from fighting against eugenics and social inequality, especially in the middle of this pandemic that made things worse for the disability community and other marginalized groups. Where is the justice? How do we keep going on against overwhelming forces that do not want us to exist, such as ableism, capitalism, and white supremacy? I wish I had the answers, but I know that I am not alone. We are living in truly difficult and extraordinary times. Now, more than ever, we need to share space, mourn, and remember together." Alice Wong, 2021 Disability Day of Mourning Virtual Vigil.

We will keep fighting for our community, and for the world Alice fought for, in every way we can. We hope you will too. Protect, love, and care for one another — wear a mask, protect the most vulnerable of us, and keep fighting against a world that tells us we are not worth fighting for.

Not that some of those people are beyond redemption (and many more are gullible idiots willing to hop into bed with the worst forms of bigotry) but lbr, publicly dunking on these people serves no purpose but to bolster the ego and net updoots. Praxis it is not.

Religious fundamentalism happens because cruelty releases endorphins and way too many religious people are too repressed to just get into BDSM like a normal person.

People REALLY need to stop thinking of their vote as a special treat they'll only give to Democrats when they've done a good-enough job, or even a less-worse job than the Republicans. Framing a blue vote as something you're doing FOR the Dems is a mistake.

YOU'RE DOING IT FOR *YOU*, STUPID.

Considering there is a detailed YouTube tutorial on how to correctly do every single task on earth, you would think we would be living in a golden age of human competence. However I am starting to worry that this is not the case
