I had like 45,000 followers on Twitter (assuming most of them aren't bots). And a lot of them seemingly have not noticed that I haven't posted a single damn thing on there since February. That's how disconnected that audience is from anything going on with me.

It is also something that is impossible to effectively lie about on a couple of fronts. Trump and minions are basically calling the voters stupid with even more naked contempt then usual. Also, working against the national self-interest. In short, they are pissing on the leg and saying it is rain.

I'm certainly not advocating we stop harvesting resources.

But I bet those resources could be harvested by different, better people. That's an idea.

I understand the point you were probly going for, but as someone who's life was definitely objectively better even TEN years ago I think you were probably saved a lot of angry blowback by it not being more widely circulated at the time
