I took up virtual painting this year in VR. It’s been fun!

Random side note; while I’m not ambidextrous, I am bidexterous? I like switching my dominant hand a lot for some actions. Thankfully #PaintingVR lets me do that constantly! It’s great, and this was a fun test of the new palette knife tool.

The story I told in class was one I told on Twitter years ago. I'll port it over here, lightly edited, for safekeeping:

About a decade ago I took my kids, then eleven and seven, to Paris for the first time. One morning we were wandering around our neighborhood there, and came across a small park.

And done!

So yeah, my sleep schedule might be a little weird right now.

Pretty good Labour Day! Two loads of laundry, a trip to Lowe’s in my rattiest Saturday shirt, and a new lamp in the bedroom. The dresser is, of course, already covered in piles of clothes again.

The BSB uses "contrite," a word I was mostly finding in translations based on the KJV. I appreciate it as a succinct adaptation of what the Amplified seems to be saying; hearts broken over sin are answered with divine rescue.

It also led to a translation rabbit hole; who does the Lord draw close to? Who does God rescue? Those who are "crushed in spirit" (NIV/NASB/ESV/HCSB, NLT/WEB are similar), "discouraged and have given up hope" (CEV), "humbly sorry for their sins" (LB), "truly sorry for their sin" (AMP).

I've been having a rough go of it this year with often overwhelming anxiety and building depression. Struggling to cope this past week, Thursday's devotion on brokenness and Psalm 34:18 was comforting.

Eric Meyer, owner and publisher of the newspaper, said police were motivated by a confidential source who leaked sensitive documents to the newspaper, and the message was clear: “Mind your own business or we’re going to step on you.” The city’s entire five-officer police force and two sheriff’s deputies took “everything we have,” Meyer said, and it wasn’t clear how the newspaper staff would take the weekly publication to press Tuesday night.

Discovered this week I’m incapable of typing the name “Charlie” without first typing “Charlier” and I don’t know why.

I’d also witnessed authors like Jackie Hill Perry driven off the platform with unending harassment. I can logically recognise it was a very bad place, I just wasn’t being targeted for attack personally and can remember it more fondly. 😕

Yeah, I signed up for Twitter in late January 2007. 😅 I’d watched it (and my use of it) go through so many evolutions; from group chat in the early days, to general microblogging, to following news and authors and pastors from around the world.

As a North American Midwesterner, I hear this all the time from my Canadian friends!

Same in Indiana, where the running joke is that if you don’t pack several changes of clothes to go golfing, you’d die of exposure one way or another.

Where I grew up, seemed to be mostly descendants of Scottish, German, and Indigenous people groups. But yeah. A lot of distant Irish ancestry too.

I was fortunate to have a private account and a carefully curated collection of people on Twitter. It was pretty great, and I really miss it. 😢 But yeah…staying may not be much of an option (especially after my account of 16+ years was suspended over an API mistake in beta software I was testing?!).

Hour 10 of a non-stop anxiety attack; the sleeplessness is the worst. 😑

Thanks to a desk job and working remote most of the time, I now remember deodorant maybe 1 out of 6 times I leave the house.

I’m at the office today for a team meeting, and it’s not that one time.
