DOE climate report response form We are collecting names to assemble a writing team to respond to the DOE climate working group report. If you'd like to contribute, enter your info below. At this point, there is no guarantee what we'll do (if anything), but we want to keep our options open by collecting names. If you have any further questions, feel free to email me. We are primarily looking for Ph.D. scientists at universities or government labs in appropriate fields. I realize that this will exclude some qualified people and I apologize, but we felt this was necessary for a variety of reasons.

🚨 If you're interested in working on a coordinated response to the DOE climate report, please enter your info on this google form 🚨

Please RT this so as many people see it as possible.

You’re right, though: red tail hawks provide the generic “raptor” sound in a lot of media (probably because the public would not accept what a bald eagle really sounds like)

Sometimes we know a crayfish is at a site before we even begin sampling. In this case, the hairy claws of the pilose crayfish had washed up on the shore of a reservoir from molts or mortalities.

“Disasters are a human choice”: Texas counties have little power to stop building in flood-prone areas Experts suggested that more data and education are needed as Texas and the rest of the country build in known flood plains.

The are no natural disasters. There are natural hazards that impact vulnerable human communities.

Wise land use choices and risk conscious mitigation strategies are the 1st line of defense for preventing natural hazards from becoming disasters.

Proposed NOAA budget zeros out ALL climate laboratories and cooperative institutions.

GFDL, NSSL, GML, etc.

This appears to also end the US greenhouse gas sampling network, including at Mauna Loa, the oldest continuous carbon dioxide monitoring site on Earth.

A federal court granted a preliminary injunction late last night to stop the Trump administration from cutting grants to University of California researchers, giving an early win to a group of faculty trying a novel approach to protect government science investments.

A group of six University of California faculty and staff sued a host of government agencies this month over the widespread elimination of research grants since Trump took office on Jan. 20. While there have already been several lawsuits challenging the abrupt grant cancellations, the University of California legal challenge seeks to become the first class action lawsuit to claw back money for all researchers within the 10-campus university system.

Judge Rita F. Lin, a Biden appointee, gave provisional class certification to all University of California researchers who had their grants canceled by the Environmental Protection Agency, National Science Foundation or National Endowment for the Humanities since Trump's inauguration without a specific explanation, or because they focused on a diversity or equity-related topic. She granted a preliminary injunction barring the agencies from terminating more grants to University of California researchers, and ordering the government to restore the funding until the court rules otherwise.

University of California researchers notch win in novel suit against Trump, continued
Lin ruled that the Trump administration's funding cancellations over diversity and equity topics violated the researchers’ First Amendment rights, and the way agencies carried them out were “arbitrary and capricious.” While the administration is entitled to promote its own chosen priorities, the executive branch “may not set out to suppress ideas it deems dangerous by trying to drive them out of the marketplace of ideas,” Lin wrote in her ruling.
