Not being able to make a living just from your art doesn't make you a failure as an artist, it just means you're a totally normal working artist.

Very, very few comic book creators can survive on just the money they make from comics. It is an inherently unstable job and it is only getting worse as time goes on. Don't ever be embarrassed or ashamed of needing another job so that you can keep making comics.

Not to hop on but I do feel this hard. Even if “numbers dont matter” feeling like no ones even seeing your hard work is discouraging. I think one of the best ways to beat it is in the thought of building a large catalogue you can then show people when they are around
