28 pieces needing revisions and redrafting... Oh I haven't missed this niche of purgatory.

What? You mean the tax haven known for its casinos and playboy millionaires might be used for money laundering? They would never!

10.06.2025 06:13 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0So after finding this and mulling it over... I'm starting to work on making a collection. Don't know if its going to be a pamphlet or a full book but I want to reprise the old collection and add some newer work to it as well.
Let's see if I can finish up 'Dagurreotype' by year's end.

I stumbled on a collection of poems I self-published in my early twenties the other night and it is remarkable how much I've grown since then.
Just went through one of the pieces and rewrote and... the difference in direction and in style is so stark I can't believe I wrote both poems.

I'm meant to be doing a kind of queer book club through Pride month but the first book was so incredibly bad that I'm questioning whether to keep going with it honestly

In my experience, the ire is always towards generative AI (the likes of ChatGPT) instead of what I suppose you could call functional AI (spell check, for example).
I'd actually say Grammarly is where things get grey for me because it is about halfway between the two.
Read aloud functions are not generative. That's the difference. A function that lets you hear what you have written so you can edit where necessary is entirely removed from someone just sloughing out trite bollocks from the likes of ChatGPT.
16.05.2025 05:22 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Day 30 - We will finish as we began - with a Sijo. But I want you to write one that reflects on one of the poems you have written so far this month. I hope you had a fun month and got some good new drafts out of this!

Day 29 - As if we were going to get away with a poetry writing challenge without one of my least favourite forms being snuck in there! Today, the task is to write a Villanelle. Best of luck! If you need a refresher on what a villanelle is, you can find it here: www.writersdigest.com/write-better...
29.04.2025 05:53 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Day 28 - Today, youโre being given something to use as the title or the first line of your poem and the rest is up to you. The line is: โThere are weirder ways to learn about death"

Day 27 - One last word list for the month. Write in any form but you must include the following words: stain, fuse, embers, vein, tremble, distract.
#Poetry #Napowrimo #WritingPrompts
Day 26 - Today I want you to write a poem that could double as a horoscope. Whether that be for your own star sign or someone you know.
#Poetry #Napowrimo #WritingPrompts
Day 25 - Write a poem about what you might see looking out of the window of a plane.
#Poetry #Napowrimo #WritingPrompts
Day 24 - Write a poem that is as if you are trying to give someone directions home or do an important location that is personally significant to you.
#Poetry #Napowrimo #WritingPrompts
Day 23 - Find a translated work from a poet that does not write in your native language and write in response to their piece - how it makes you feel or the place it takes you.

The amazing "Mercy" by Duffy
22.04.2025 18:11 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Day 22 - Write a poem made of only dialogue. No description, no dialogue tags. Make it as realistic as possible, or completely nonsensical, but this poem will include speech and only speech!
#Poetry #Napowrimo #WritingPrompts
Day 21 - Time for another form and today I want you to attempt a Tanka. And for the subject Iโd like you to choose a famous work of art. The title of the artwork should form the title of your poem. For a brief overview of a Tanka: www.writersdigest.com/write-better...

Day 20 - Write a poem that starts with a tree. Think about what season you want it to be and thus what it looks like (are there leaves/blossom/bare branches)? Think about where you are in relation to it. See where it takes you.
#poetry #napowrimo #writingprompts
Day 19 - Write a poem that is also a letter. To your past or future self; to a friend; to an emotion; to a loved one who passed away.
#poetry #napowrimo #writingprompts
Day 18 - And a second word list prompt for you. Write in any form but you must include the following words: petrichor, valuable, fading, susurrus, ignite, growth.

Day 17 - Whoโs up for interpreting some tarot cards through poetry. If you have a tarot deck then give it a shuffle and pull the top card. Whatever you draw forms the subject of your piece - what it means in general or what it would mean to you.

Honestly, same. I discovered it when making the prompts and figured it would be a neat challenge
16.04.2025 07:44 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Day 16 - Earlier in the month, we wrote an ode to an everyday object. Now I want you to write an elegy for one.
#Poetry #WritingPrompts #Napowrimo
Day 15 - I want you to write a poem that is also a list or an inventory. My favourite example of this is โOxfamโ by Carol Ann Duffy.
#Napowrimo #WritingPrompts #Poetry
Day 14 - Write a poem that describes a scene or event specific to a particular season, but avoid the usual suspects. Yes, robins signal spring, and leaves turn red in the fall. But for this prompt, weโre digging deeper into the ways we recognize seasons. Surprise yourself!
#Napowrimo #Poetry
Day 13 - Write a poem about a nightmare or a โthereโs a monster under the bedโ type fear which you had as a child.
