Actually I'm guessing it's only a matter of "what new task will we _first_ ask a NN to perform, instead of a human?". I'm in a field of research where people are more than happy to throw LLMs at anything that moves, so I wouldn't even be surprised if that hadn't happened already.

Why would it? What's the underlying question or assumption?

The ChatGPTs 20 years from now may solve our Future Problems™, including brand new ones, without the need for another "standard" program to have been written by a human. Or do you expect that it cannot be the case?
