DIY Top Tip #2: you may be thinking “I can’t really afford to get curtains in every room because the fabric is so expensive.” But this isn’t a problem because nowadays you actually can’t even afford the curtain *rails*

PSA: if you preach on Hebrews and 2 Corinthians on the same day, you will at some point get muddled and write “Paul” to mean the author of Hebrews; and then you will have to edit it in the pulpit in real time.

The C of E can do it independently for some reason, but if you want your footpath dedicated into another religion you have to go to the registry office first

Yes we Brits are well-known for our *checks notes* over-seasoned food

1. Many classic works of literature are terrible and just getting by on reputation.

I’m pretty sure i don’t have enough followers for this to work in my case, but this looks fun. I’m known for having opinions, I can do this

Recently for me the “safe place” they chose was the porch of a church which is open to the public all day, such that it was the first thing any visitor would see

That is how I finally managed it, yes

I have finally achieved what I never thought possible. That’s right: I’ve lost my 1125-day streak on Duolingo

Friends who have (successfully) written a book while in parish ministry: how the heck did you manage that?

When did they change the pronunciation of ‘diplodocus’ from ‘diplodocus’ to ‘diplodocus’?

I can’t remember off the top of my head what tune we change to, but we definitely do change tune at Ascension Day

When I set up this account I said I was going to use it for sharing my composition work; then I never got round to it. I’m gearing up to start doing that, but in the meantime, if anybody has access to a choir and are open to being sent new pieces (or have any requests!) please get in touch

By the looks of it she and I share the same supplier

I know it’s unlikely this close to the day, but do any church-involved people on here have need of an extra SATB Good Friday anthem for their choir?

I know we’re meant to be disagreeing well and all that, and worrying about logs in our own eyes, but I’ve just read a post on a different platform from a priest decrying the general stupidity (in his opinion) of the laity, and I just… can we start having self-awareness lessons in seminary, please? 😬

I am horribly confused by days when you’re given multiple options (negating the point of a lectionary IMHO) so I assumed you were on the 1662 lectionary. Anyway, I'm glad it seems to have worked out

I’m on the other lectionary, but I can see why Neh.6 might be quite… er… tricky at the moment. If it’s typed I’d love to read what the Spirit gave you

You mean to say some places use less than us?!

I’ve had the same cassock dry-cleaned in the same place for several years, and the price has *never* been the same on two consecutive visits. And I don’t mean it’s steadily increasing; this time is the most it’s been but last time was the cheapest ever by about £5. Most mysterious

Is there a technical term for the thing in rhetoric where someone says e.g. “as any educated person knows…” to make people feel stupid if they disagree? I don’t know how best to Google it (this tweet verbatim didn’t work as a search term)

Once again:

WAR SHOULD NOT BE TREATED AS A SPORT IN WHICH WE WAVE OUR FLAGS AND ROOT FOR OUR TEAM.

THE ONLY WINNER IS PEACE.

Everyone and everything else loses.

Is loss.

Is lost.

Composing for me is (often) a form of meditative prayer. Sometimes it comes from events in my life or the wider world, often when I simply don’t know what to say in words. Not having adequate words has certainly been the case over past few days. musescore.com/user/7239252...

Yes I’ve endured some silly nonsense on the other place (and on my day off, no less!) and I’ve retreated back here for some wholesome stuff
