The collect is from the Visitation (May 31st) but although this feast dates from the 6th century it wasn't added to TECs calendar until the 2018 revision of Lesser Feasts and Fasts and since it's a Lesser Feast it (sadly) doesn't get office readings.

If you could convince CP to do something that's actually helpful to the liturgical and devotional life of the church I might start a canonization process for you while you're still alive!

I carry a BCP/Bible combo with me for the office and it works but the 2 Volume office books were just so much more compact.

So I would argue that We are obliged to accept the christological and trinitarian statements within the Creed even if we aren't obliged to accept every aspect of it (thinking particularly of the anathemas and the implication that those who don't hold to the faith are damned)
06.09.2025 13:19 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0
As mentioned TEC clergy are not obliged to accept the creed as a whole since our definition of doctrine only mentions Apostles and Nicene creeds by name. However the catechism does mention the athanasian creed as proclaiming the nature of the incarnation and of God as Trinity.

I'd much rather have a feast of creation like the East commemorated on September 1st (their liturgical new year) than a whole season. The rhythm of the Liturgical calendar has been in place for centuries and I'd rather not mess with that.

Today we celebrate the Feast of St. Mary the Virgin, Mother of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
O God, you have taken to yourself the blessed Virgin Mary, mother of your incarnate Son: Grant that we, who have been redeemed by his blood, may share with her the glory of your
eternal kingdom...

Almighty God, of your saving grace you called Mary of Nazareth to be the mother of your only begotten Son: Inspire us by the same grace to follow her example of bearing God to the world. We pray through Jesus Christ her son, our Lord. Amen β

Born to prepare the way of the Lord, Johnβs life reminds us of the power of God's promises and the call to be faithful witnesses to the Truth in both life and death. Johnβs nativity invites us to rejoice in the light he bore witness to-Christ himself. β

I know Corpus Christi has a complicated history in modern Anglicanism and has never officially been added to the calendar in PECUSA but I think there is great value in setting aside a day outside of Holy Week to give thanks for the gift of the Holy Sacrament.
