DNA methylation clocks were always known to be confound by genetics (the Illumina assay is a repurposed SNP chip after all)
Here established (white ppl) DNAm "aging" clocks fall apart in other ethnicities (& as usual don't explain much clinical variation in anyone)

Aside from this, the trial design is flawed. It's well established the IS response to a training program (single arm) are >> heterogeneous, i.e. mean differences between small subgroups, on different treatments, can't be attributed to protocol alone π€¦ββοΈ

2/3 How do u publish a study like this & not cite the largest HIT study in over-weight, sedentary adults (doi.org/10.3389/fend...) with varying degrees of IR, where they identified a molecular signature related (doi.org/10.1093/nar/...) to reversal of IR?

The details matter; while I suspected this 7% was best case scenario - it seems informative censoring could have influenced the results to the point that there was no real benefit of exercise (excess censoring in the exercise arm; exercise killed off the weak?)

Exercise scientists eh. Even here, when there's a clearly a very positive story they have to bs about 'better than drugs' when it's not a primary prevention cancer trial. Expected that cardio metabolic risk factors contribute to further risk. As good as it gets for an exercise study

A collage of several figures from the retracted paper, of invasion assays and wound healing assays; showing different panels with cells growing on a surface. I have added loads of colored boxes to show duplicated areas.
A retraction by Oncotarget, but the journal is taking all the credit for my 2020 findings!
"Oncotargetβs Image Forensics analysis identified multiple instances of image manipulations".
What a crappy move from Oncotarget.

How is ScienceGuardians different from PubPeer?
Several PubPeer users have been able to register on ScienceGuardians and post the exact same type of concerns.
Why is PubPeer "unaccountable" and "malicious" and SG "respectful" and "accountable"?
I see absolutely no difference.

The doβs and donβts of scientific image editing
Acceptable image-editing practices are partly a matter of common sense. But researchers say journals and funders could help scientists by standardizing policies.

The results, based on 1 mouse strain are interesting but life-long reduction in NAD+ doesn't in itself challenge that loss of NAD+ in humans doesn't a) have consequences or b) respond to supplemental intervention.
As usual, headline below is more marketing than clinical science.

Shame the cases & controls aren't matched for key physiology VO2max or Physicla activity (& why no sample size in the demographics table?).
Might be T2DM, might not π€·ββοΈ. Small studies on T2DM have proven to being reliable past two decades
