Thank you! Your article in WSS a few issues ago was instrumental in putting these together as well.

Thank you! They mix of Khaki Drill and Battledress is inspired but photos I’ve seen of the Sicily campaign, where there was a real mix on show

Section No.2 for my British in Italy platoon. Luckily only a 3 section platoon so just one more to go!

Yes I am! There’s a great Goonhammer article about all the ranges, I think Scarab is the only range that you can get in the UK at the moment.

Will be starting with some Empress Russians and Ukrainians first

Ah thank you. There is a dearth of AH models I’ve found, with the added bonus of Brigade’s Range not having a UK distributor (and doubt that will change with the tariff situation)

A distant wish would be that Wargames Atlantic come up with a plastic set, which would be perfect for conversions.

Interesting, will pick this up at some point as the post 1918 conflicts are an area of massive interest. Glad osprey have published a few books on this area in recent years.

Out of interest, where are your Austro-Hungarians from? Looking for some good models for Sich Rifleman

Lovely work, agreed on the black undercoat, I switched for my ECW and prefer the effect.

Harold Godwinson and his two brothers for my SAGA collection. A nice break from WW2 uniforms

29.08.2025 17:22 β€” πŸ‘ 42    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 3    πŸ“Œ 0

Quite simple - dark grey primer (black would also work), Vallejo English Uniform, brown wash and then re-apply English uniform with gaps for the recesses.

Also my pet peeve is people that just comment β€˜Chain of Command’ on these sorts of posts.

It’s a good game, but it won’t have the same attraction as Bolt Action and doesn’t really help the whole grognard reputation. For me it’s Bolt Action AND Chain of Command, not OR!

16.08.2025 10:54 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Can be annoying - I try to approach it with the topic with the idea that they just don’t know that panzerfausts were a later war weapon! Bolt Action is still the best tool to get GW players into historicals I’ve found.

Is the Warlord Bolt Action Mystery Box worth it?
YouTube video by Wargamer Of Kent Is the Warlord Bolt Action Mystery Box worth it?

I took a punt on a Bolt Action mystery box and worked out how much you actually save from it.

Worked out for me as I had a plan for boxes that I wasn’t fussed about, but I don’t think a mystery box is for everyone!

I too have a German box coming! Though I’m not sure what I actually want…

Does anyone know if the larger Empress Miniatures Russian Civil War range is delayed or shelved? I know they came out with some lovely Ukrainians a few years ago but also found these previews from 2023 that don’t seem available.

More US armour rolls off the painting desk. 3 Priests and 4 M10 Wolverines. Crew took a little bit of time but worth the effort!

Great days gaming today, as one of my mates put on a 6 person Hail Caesar game, using Epic figures he’s painted over the last year.

The game was a β€˜What if’ following Trebia, and the Roman Remnants succeeded in holding on long enough to give Rome some hope!

How to Play the Home Guard in Bolt Action V3
YouTube video by Wargamer Of Kent How to Play the Home Guard in Bolt Action V3

It’s a soggy morning here in Kent, so a good time to share my latest video where I go through my Home Guard army and hoe to use it in Bolt Action with the new Armies of Great Britain.

Operation Sealion is my favourite β€˜what if’ of WW2 by a long way!

Forgemaster miniatures do some nice 3D prints instead of having to wait for GW stock issues!

Really nice work! I’ve got them to paint down the line myself. I like the mix in colours, always enjoy a less uniformed approach.

Building a WW2 American Army in 15mm Part 1 - Gluing Tanks
YouTube video by Wargamer Of Kent Building a WW2 American Army in 15mm Part 1 - Gluing Tanks

After finishing my Italians I’ve been bouncing around for my next project, and then I found this Flames Of War starter set in the loft.

With nearly everything for a US army for Rapid Fire, I’ve decided that by documenting the project I might actually paint it all!

Yes I’ve noticed that too. Im sure Summer has a part in that, but I only seem to be seeing a small number of accounts posting. May just be that these are the most active but still!-

The answer is yes! A slow start but when it came down to the push of like the royalists gained the upper hand.
