10.10.2025 21:41 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Lastly, we really should not give this woman any benefit of the doubt, even if she says something that sounds conciliatory and reasonable. She's was a Q-Anoner, she's a racist, she's a fascist. We know what her views are. Any appearance of softening of views is scarcely likely to be honest.
10.10.2025 12:03 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0- "It's just drama, constantly, on TV...that's all we see in American politics now"
It really isn't. This is just a downplaying of the nationwide crackdown on civil liberties that's going on, and the unprecedented literal militarisation on domestic soil (not international, that's very precedented)
- "I don't have to be a cheerleader for my party, I need to represent my district."
Well first, that's not true. Secondly, that's not what she's been doing, at all. She's pretending to just be a mischaracterised local champion, when that's not been the case.
- "we really want our government and our leaders to actually focus on our country for a change"
This is basically just a less obvious version of saying "America First". It's at the core of Trumpism's policies of withdrawing from climate agreements, imposing tariffs, and oppressing immigrants.
- "Our country is so divided right now...we saw that with the recent assassination of charlie kirk"
Marjorie herself has spent her whole political career spreading the kind of hateful rhetoric that has driven this division, and her President is the one enacting authoritarian policy to divide more.
I want to break down some the things said here, because a lot of it *sounds* reasonable out of context, but there's a lot of stuff here that needs a more critical eye.

10.10.2025 10:35 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Whether intentionally or by ignorance, most UK political leaders are shockingly politically and economically illiterate.
With that in mind, god it's nice to see a leader say something as obvious as, "billionaires can't just shove their capital assets in a carry on bag and jet out of here."

SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems... SIMON: What? SHAPIRO: ...Or saying... SIMON: You imagine that? SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over. SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level. SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this. SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

I often try and make it so that the *way* you interact with dice/cards is metaphorically evocative.
For me, I care whether all results do actually introduce narrative and character interest. Once they do, I just vaguely get the ratios of results feeling good. As long as it's all interesting I'm not bothered about deep specifics.
People who are and go deep on stats are also good and cool.
As an extremely vibes based designer who just sort of looks at the general curve and then fiddles with it until it feels alright, I agree! Though I love how deep Josh goes in showing his work, it's good shit.

Truly, a great skeptical mind of out era.
Someone on a random discord linked a weird website dedicated to defending software developer Richard Stallman. Honestly extremely funny website, regardless of anything else.
I would love people to guess what topic Stallman changed his mind on that led to this effusive comparison to Socrates.
I have my own version of that, which is "everyone is very stupid". A lot of people have certain things that they are specifically not stupid about, but there is not a single humour that isn't an idiot on some topic or another.
What separates the wise and foolish is the ability to recognise that imo
Honestly if Eva Green had been a bit younger or a bit older at the right time she would have been a perfect choice to play Alia Atreides

Online games are fine and good, but socialising with real human beings -- even in a hired hall with so many games in it that you can barely hear the people at the other end of the table -- has a certain something that online lacks.
