We have a new full-time job vacancy 35 hours per week for an NRPF Support Officer.

This is a fixed-term contract to 31st March 2026, with the possibility of extension if further funding becomes available.

To tackle this, BCWA have developed a Suicide and Self Harm Prevention Policy, a Suicide Risk Screening Tool, and a Suicide Safety Plan, to equip our staff to effectively support our service-users while protecting their own wellbeing. 💛

Suicide is a particularly important topic to us, as victims of domestic abuse are at a high risk of death by suicide. It is estimated that in the UK about 3 women a week die by suicide as a direct result of domestic abuse.

Domestic violence screening tool has ‘obvious’ problems, says Jess Phillips Ms Phillips said she was reviewing the entire system used to support victims.

The DASH risk tool has long failed to identify high-risk victims, with up to 96% misclassified as low or medium risk. While it’s positive the government is finally reviewing DASH, it’s frustrating that frontline organisations like BCWA have been raising these concerns for years.

On 7 September at 3pm, the UK will have an emergency alarm test, and turning your phone on silent will not stop it from going off. The alarm could put victims/survivors of domestic abuse at risk - especially those who have hidden phones for their safety. Guidance on turning it off in the comments.

Project Resist has united with Sharon Holland & bereaved families to campaign for justice for victims of domestic abuse related suicides. Our aim is to raise awareness and expose the systemic failures of the police and criminal justice system to treat these deaths as homicides.

As we kick off Pride month, join us on June 10th to learn how the LGBTQ+ community can be affected by domestic abuse.
