I went back to find this post, because it was several years ago that I first experienced the supposed "new" evangelicals, and it was not a good experience.
I am disheartened they stayed on the same path and caused more harm.
Turning my attention to a theology of conflict, especially war, in the coming months.
I've started my reading here:

If you have recommended resources, send them my way, please.
Certainly a worthwhile read.

In case you've never seen it, here's a way of understanding unethical and destructive leadership. It is known as the toxic triangle.

This deserves a repost in case you missed it the first time, or even if you didn't. Just plain old good basic stuff that we no longer can take for granted. @bobstevenson.bsky.social

Composure, Saints! This is a vital witness to our faith in Christ in any era of chaos.
Upon waking, let us meet with Jesus and trade our fear & anger for his courage & compassion.
Rely on God.
Read Scripture.
Be brave.
Pray valiantly.
Act like grownups.
Help the hurting.
Love defiantly.
I just learned there's a "Mom's For Liberty" and a "Mom's For Liberties." It is worth knowing the difference:

Part of the issue is that those people don't believe the vaccine actually did anything to vaccinate against covid. They don't believe it was possible for someone to create a vaccine that quickly, and some don't believe vaccines are necessary. They probably think NIH is corrupt or some other nonsense
23.01.2025 04:22 β π 10 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The lack of critical thinking in evangelical Christianity is increasingly startling. There are large pockets of people who have fused to a specific, cynical (nihilistic?) narrative and interpret everything through that lens.
Lord, have mercy.
This is worth reading.

But, seriously, I saw more car washes being built in Castle Rock, and it is perplexing.
Agreed. It is so utterly perplexing that this many people believe the conman is better to lead the country. Certainly racism and misogyny played a significant role in the outcome of the election. 2016 and 2024, especially 2024 because we KNEW who he was, dishearten me when I think about them.
