*30%* ffs. I wonder what that figure would be by now if our media werenโ€™t still almost exclusively populated by intellectually indolent wankers too pompous to admit that they never had the first idea what they were encouraging everyone else to vote for. Dear Lucy

Three weeks ago you wrote me a bizarre letter in an attempt to hold on to voters who Labour have for too long taken for granted in Gorton and Denton.

First, Iโ€™d like to give my apologies for the delay in getting back to you. I've been busy on the ground with Hannah Spencer talking to voters about the issues that matter to them โ€“ lowering bills, protecting the NHS and rebuilding our public services.

You'll appreciate most of your letter is out of date now, but I'm sure you'll have seen the poll that came out today, that puts us in first place and Reform in second. Labour are a distant third and itโ€™s now clearer than ever that your party cannot win in Gorton and Denton.

If you are as concerned about stopping Reform as you proposed in your letter, the course is now clear: in the spirit in which you wrote to me, you should now urge your members and former voters to back Hannah Spencer on the 26th February to stop Reform and make hope normal again.

Kind regards,

Zack Polanski
Leader of the Green Party of England and Wales

P.S โ€“ Hannah looks forward to saying hi in Parliament!

'Bid to buy Rothbury Estate as divisive as Brexit' Funds are being raised to buy the Northumberland estate - but the plans have split opinion.

Fixed that headline for you:

โ€˜One (1) farmer who farms 1,000 acres doesnโ€™t like rewilding, weโ€™ve made that the basis of our headline in a classic example of false balance.

PS everyone else in the story loves the idea of the Wildlife Trusts buying the Rothbury Estateโ€™

Londoners to get first official bathing area on Thames at this idyllic spot The filming location for TV drama Broadchurch is also among 13 new designated swimming sites proposed by the Government

All Londoners should be able to swim safely in the capitalโ€™s waterways.

A proposed bathing water site on the Thames is a big step forward and could help make that possible if approved. My upcoming Clean and Healthy Waterways Plan will take this further.

His earlier comments to Sky News, external had drawn criticism from Manchester United fan groups. He said: "You can't have an economy with nine million people on benefits and huge levels of immigrants coming in.

"I mean, the UK has been colonised. It's costing too much money. The UK has been colonised by immigrants, really, hasn't it?"

He incorrectly claimed the population of the UK had risen by 12 million to 70 million people in the last five years. The Office for National Statistics estimates it has actually risen from 66.7 million to 69.4 million, an increase of less than three million.

New UKCEH research shows UK saltmarshes are significant carbon sinks, storing ~6.5 t COโ‚‚e haโปยน yrโปยน, comparable to mangroves and seagrasses.

Saltmarshes aren't yet included in the UK GHG Inventory, but the evidence base is strengthening.

Nature security assessment on global biodiversity loss, ecosystem collapse and national security This strategic assessment explores how global biodiversity loss and the collapse of critical ecosystems could affect the UKโ€™s resilience, security and prosperity.

An across-government technical assessment published today recognises that "nature is the foundation of national security" and that "every critical ecosystem is on a pathway to collapse". A rational response to this would be to get very serious about nature recovery.
