This is a very complex medical condition, I have come across many people with it in the past. There is no one size fits all solution. Meditation itself isn't for everyone, it can bring distressing symptoms more into focus which isn't helpful. Would they consider any form of gentle movements.

3 possible responses to this. #1- I am a sh*t-hot magician and/or (false humility ) the universe loves me (ie more than you). I don't even have to enchant for what I want. Leading to a massive increase in egotism when it should be decreasing. And a slackening off of magical practice. Nope.

Why The Glovemakers Daughter? It comes from an obscure reference in the novel Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell which is a story about English magic. Essentially it is the account of the Raven King, a powerful magician whose capital city during his 300 year reign was Newcastle upon Tyne. #chaosky

Very interesting article on substack, thanks for posting. Aside from his eccentricities, would you say there was anything that took him beyond an early adopter of Enlightenment values? His pantheon seems mostly classical unless I'm missing anything.

This might send you down a rabbit hole...Jaq D Hawkins' article "Defining Chaos" which talks about putting everyday language into equation form. This requires a non- linear thought process, whereas we are trained from an early age to think in linear terms. Sounds like decent mind-f***ery to me!

Re-reading Alan Chapman. Our experiences should form the bedrock of our magical practice. Not someone else's theories, postmodern or otherwise. Easy to say, but I wonder how many people actually do this instead of rehashing someone else's thoughts. Thought and experience as Aleister Crowley put it.

Initiation is an intensely personal experience, the details of which not everyone (me!) wants to share on a public platform such as social media. It is a direct *experience* - not something that someone else can bestow on you. Others may recognise it & bestow recognition via x,y,z but that's all.

If one doesn't keep progressing, you stagnate. Individuals and magical traditions. Your original question is brilliant cos it asks for direct experience. Alan Chapman emphasises the need for direct *experience* of magick, not endlessly rehashing old theories. Experience is the thing.
