We could count his scammy COVID treatments for a clean sweep.

Trump’s ideological framework couldn’t be more different, but his collusions with power and his claims to grab hold of untouchable problems is similar.

Worth noting, many POC died at Jonestown. Like the way Trump is hurting blue collar supporters now? Seems that’s where we’re headed.

Jones gained political power with elites because he could deliver huge blocks of votes at the polls. He mobilized the base.

He mobilized the base by explicitly addressing problems that do one else would, mainly racial inequity.

I’m not ready to say that democracy can’t pull off a come from behind victory, but the two party system is out of breath and… yep… just barfed all over the track.

Honestly, I get more Stalin vibes. Internal purges were the trade mark of his last administration.

Remember when we distinguished “not racist” from “anti-racist?” Can we run that play again this time with fascist?

I can’t think of a better time to practice disruption and absurdity in response to aggression than now.

However, that’s not anywhere in the text. The text is all about disrupting the retribution narrative of the aggressor in a way that cannot be confused with capitulation.

When I teach the “turn the other cheek” passage (Matthew 5:29 and following), my students usually understand it in terms of forgiveness… ⬇️
