We found one (1) in the entire country: Columbine's school district.
Cat litter was for a "go bucket," in case kids were locked in during a shooting.

if a major politician held an emergency rally about the current ongoing coup by the richest man in the world, I think people would go to it. Shit is well and truly fucked. I can think of a couple of people who should do that right now.

This is what I say to people, mostly women, mostly younger women, when I’m out in public spaces after they say “I’m sorry” to my “excuse me.”
The responses I get are pretty amazing in all the best ways.
Seriously. Don’t apologize for taking up space.
Early on in our relationship, I was driving somewhere with my partner and his mom. When we got out, the wind caught my car door. I apologized and his mom said, “For what?” I explained I didn’t mean to slam the door.
Her response sticks with me to this day: “Don’t apologize for making noise!”
I keep reading that this is a place for kinder people, but gentle souls have always been among us. We just couldn’t hear them anymore. Perhaps our gathering here is proof that we missed those voices. What a wonderful thing to believe about ourselves. It can be a bold move to choose kindness.

Sulu (a Japanese-American man aged around thirty, played by George Takei) is doing a very good job of keeping a straight face while holding an alien creature. The alien creature is very obviously a deeply unimpressed small terrier in a fake-fur coat with a single fake horn on its forehead.
Watching some very serious deeply philosophical hard science fiction.

08.12.2024 01:13 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0A few months ago, when I was feeling really low, unworthy, unproductive, etc, I started making lists at the end of my days.
I call them Ta-DID! lists.
I’d write down everything I did all day. Dressed, fed kids, worked, took a walk…
I’d fill pages and then I wouldn’t feel bad about myself anymore.
Getting to work with Sigourney was a bucket list item checked off.
And holy shit is she everything you want her to be. Huge science fiction lover, obsessed with the nuances of the writing. Working with her was a dream. 14/10 would recommend.
Yep, exactly. I am trying to balance the weird in-between of staying informed without giving too much of my attention to far-right extremism
