7/ These bills aren’t just policy. They are acts of erasure. They endanger dignity, safety, & lives. They represent state-sanctioned cruelty.

6/ HB 1106 says refusing to affirm your child’s gender identity is not abuse. This legalizes harm in the name of “family values.”

5/ SB 8, the so-called “bathroom bill,” bans trans people from facilities matching their gender. Schools, shelters, prisons—$25k–$125k fines enforce this cruelty.

4/ HB 229 defines “sex” on official documents only by reproductive capacity. It erases gender identity, harms intersex Texans, & denies lived realities.

3/ But in Texas today, hard-won progress is under attack. The Legislature has passed cruel, targeted laws aimed at erasing LGBTQ+ people. Here’s what we face: 🧵

2/ Those marches sparked change—anti-discrimination protections, access to healthcare, marriage equality, & a culture that finally began to see us. Collective action works.

1/ 🌈 Pride is more than a parade. It’s protest. It began in 1969 at Stonewall when queer & trans people resisted police violence. One year later, they marched for rights & visibility. ✊ #Pride

7/ History shows what happens when vaccines are embraced, and when they’re abandoned. We can’t afford to go backward.

6/ Public health should be guided by science & compassion, not politics. Vaccines protect all of us, especially the most vulnerable.

5/ 🔬 mRNA research is especially promising. It can fight COVID, flu, RSV, HIV & even cancer. 🧬 Cutting it now means walking away from life-saving breakthroughs.

4/ These moves erode trust, weaken pandemic readiness, & threaten decades of progress. They turn back the clock to a time when outbreaks killed thousands.

3/ 👶🤰 He also rolled back COVID vaccine recommendations for kids & pregnant women. During the measles outbreak, he downplayed the crisis—even as unvaccinated children filled hospitals 🏥 … and one child died.

2/ ⚠️ That’s why RFK Jr.’s recent policy changes are so dangerous. He disbanded the CDC’s vaccine advisory board & cut $500M from mRNA research. 🚫🔬

1/ 💉 Vaccines are one of humanity’s greatest triumphs. They eradicated smallpox, nearly ended polio & slashed measles deaths by 80% worldwide. They save lives. Full stop. 🌍✨

🌍 Yes. From Swiss cantons to the American Revolution, liberty thrives when locals govern themselves. Austin’s “Death Star Bill” & SB 2038 strip our rights. I’ll fight for San Marcos’ freedom to choose our future. ✊

Q4 – Lobbying Ordinance
💰 Yes. Lobbying is ancient—but it must be transparent. Cities like Austin already require registration. San Marcos deserves the same, so influence isn’t hidden & everyday voices aren’t drowned out by money. 📊

Q3 – Ethics Commission
🌞 Yes. Ethics rulings should be public. Sunlight builds trust & accountability. Other cities already do this. Publish with context—minor mistakes need not be sensationalized, but violations must be visible. 📢

Q2 – Town Halls
🏛️ Yes. 3 minutes at Council isn’t enough. Town Halls give neighbors real dialogue with leaders. Access + conversation = stronger democracy. If we want trust, we must show up & listen. 🗣️

Q1 – Draft Agendas
📄 Yes. San Marcans need more than 72 hrs notice. Posting draft agendas early (tagged “subject to change”) gives neighbors time to engage. Transparency isn’t risky—it’s democracy working. 🌞
