I wonder if there are any lessons to be learned here for the Labour Party, as the governing party with cratering approval ratings who are facing an electoral wipeout next year, or whether the lesson will be the importance of hectoring people into voting Labour despite its quixotic rightward shift.

Just a thought: How about we stop shaming the poor for buying things that may not be essential, and start shaming the rich for making a profit off things that are essential?

Ooh aye, Bonnie And Clyde (1967) is Β£2.99 on iTunes. Still packs a punch after nearly 60 years

Katie Lam tries to explain to the Sunday Times how her grandparents experience under Nazism informs her view that the postwar institutions forged after the horrors of war, dictatorship & the holicaust won't now work in our times - because "they assume everyone would want to be nice to each other"

They like what Trump is doing, this really isn't hard. It's not both-sideism, it's running cover for the regime by choice in order to reach a desired outcome. Can we please stop cutting this institution slack it does not deserve?

If they really believed this, they’d drop prices first, betting on that being a huge win. But they’re not being in that at all, they don’t have that confidence, because they know it’s bullshit, and they’re betting on bullshit fooling us all

Back in the land of reality, here's what one of the Black people whose home was smashed into during the apartment raid last week said about his Venezuelan neighbors: "They were cool people."

Mr. Jones, a U.S. citizen, was dragged out in handcuffs and held outside for hours.

The insanity continues. The police either don't know what they are doing or are just arresting people as a punitive deterrent.

Having hated Tarsem’s THE CELL (2000) I didn’t bother with his 2006 follow up. Turns out it’s actually very good. Unlike his film school classmates Michael Bay & Zack Snyder, he manages to mix striking images with an emotional wallop (thanks to excellent performances by Lee Pace & Catinca Untaru)

Trying to imagine the reaction from the presidents of other countries to this: "THREE GRAND? in EUROS? He dropped out over a €3K debt to a former tenant from sixteen years ago? What the fuck?"
If only this kind of thing was the standard practice in Ireland.
