That there are not editorials blasting this gross shit is because every major media outlet has been bought out or threatened. Every time they purport to lecture, you, the reader, on anything. They are a bunch of boardroom babies that are not speaking their consciences, just their interests

Idk who you tell about this, but guys: has anyone noticed that when sitting down, your pee angle doesn’t change, aside from pressure, regardless of whether you bend back or forward? You gotta direct things manually if you care. Bodies are wild

WOW. So this is obviously a huge violation of this man's rights, and it illustrates a few things we're seeing broadly:

- DHS officers are ignoring peoples' IDs and instead requiring screening through their own systems
- Confirms @404media.co's reports of use of DHS's facial recognition app.

It’s an art! And like baking, you gotta learn the subtle signs of things, & you can’t open the oven every 2 minutes to check, you gotta learn the signs, like when the edges lift away. But it’s so satisfying and it’s what every good cook does, it doesn’t take that long to learn & it lasts a lifetime

GLASHEEN: Antifa is our primary concern right now. That's the most immediate violent threat we're facing

BENNIE THOMPSON: Where is antifa headquartered?

GLASHEEN: ... ... ... we are building out the infrastructure right now

THOMPSON: What does that mean?

I’m trying to figure out whether the fact that this photo is exactly the kind of thing people want to use β€œAI" for and it looks like very bad Photoshop is intentional. Is it a dig? Is it supposed to be ironic? Genuinely I do not understand. I assumed at first it was not a real cover.

Yes, teens are stupid. Ofcourse they are, it is sort of their job to be stupid, not their fault. They lack the experience to not-be-stupid, so actually their stupidity is a skill, which is precisely the point: We're deskilling kids for emotional labor. And that's fucked up.

11.12.2025 15:51 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Teens are stupid and awkward exactly because they lack emotional experience and it is precisely that time where they have to figure this out: How to manage emotions and social relationships. Outsourcing this emotional labor as a teen to a bot is not good.

The fact that the entire Pentagon press corps covering the world's biggest military has been replaced with right wing influencers happy to act as administration enforcers is a legitimate crisis for democracy and global security.

β€œCanto” implies that it’s part of some larger work, β€œAmerican” canto implies that this is just the American section of that work, what are the other sections, I wonder?

It’s really wild, right? Most major media outlets are now owned by people who are openly hostile to the project and ethos of journalism, see the news as a weapon/plaything. And then there’s the times, which is owned by editors who have the decidedly WRONG idea about what that ethos is

At what point does the United States government, and indeed, the quickly forming oligarchy of billionaires, doing evil things become too much for you?

Too much to just post about. Too much, even, to just protest (and with those oligarchs owning and coordinating more and more of the media, hmm)

My daughter could have died. I blame US insurance companies | Melody Schreiber I asked my doctor for a shot to protect my premature daughter against RSV. Then we realized we didn’t qualify for insurance

Exactly one year ago, my daughter was in the hospital battling RSV. The thought that more families might go through that when an incredibly effective and safe medication exists is mind-blowing. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

β€œI had word from The Trump admin that theyre on top of things,” Mr. Tate wrote to someone close to him, in a message reviewed by The New York Times. β€œIve been told ill be free soon but Trump needs to see me in Miami,” he added.

The next month, an extraordinary order came down from the highest levels of the Romanian government, a Times investigation found. The prosecutors were told to find a compromise with the Tates. Despite their misgivings, they lifted the travel restrictions, a move that Romania’s prime minister thought would appease the Trump administration.

They are "accused of coercing women into pornography. Andrew was also accused of rape and of having sex with and beating a 15-year-old."
After the Trump administration pressured Romania, they were allowed to leave.

One thing I've learned as a media critic involves scale. The tools of criticism work within certain boundaries like the metaphor in use here: five-alarm fire. Our imaginations can handle that. The PR team will respond. "I'm running my ideas for CNN past the president" is too huge to be criticizable.
