πŸ“ˆπŸ§  We're looking for brains! πŸ§ πŸ“ˆ
Postdoc + PhD positions are available to help pioneer fetal MEG with optically pumped magnetometers, measuring prenatal responses to sound and light to understand how we start making sense of the world even before we're born. 🐣

Please get in touch to hear more!

It's just a way to split bursts into groups based on their waveform similarity along that PCA dimension. It's not the best way, and there may not be discrete groups - more of a continuum, but it useful. We're always looking for better ways to do it.

Good point, but in this case it wouldn't be so informative because we lack temporal dynamics in this task. Beta power is lower than baseline when performing actions. The cool stuff is in the waveform-specific burst rates

I'm co-organising a #CNS2026 symposium with @adykstra.bsky.social - "Non-invasive meso-scale dynamics of perception and cognition", including @darcywaller.bsky.social and @lonikefaes.bsky.social. If you're a member, please vote for it and help us make this happen!

What Darcy said! If you're a @cogneuronews.bsky.social member and want to learn at #CNS2026 how MEG and fMRI can yield circuit-level insight into perception and cognition, vote for our symposium! Co-organized by laminar MEG guru @danclab.bsky.social. Vote here! www.cogneurosociety.org/account-login/

Simulations are fun! Especially with the right toolsπŸ˜‰.
@willenjoy.bsky.social and I (with support from Mina Jamshidi) made a toolbox for simulating EEG/MEG data
meegsim.readthedocs.io
I put together a quick simulation using it for this short clip. Took me 10 minutes (no, really!)

Infant Brains Tick at 4Hz - Resonance Properties of the Developing Visual System Neural rhythms of the infant brain are not well understood. Testing the rhythmic properties of the adult visual system with periodic or broadband visual stimulation elicited neural resonance phenomena...

In an EEG study spearheaded by Marlena Baldauf, we show that 8-month-old babies’ visual systems resonate at 4Hz (theta rhythm) β€” unlike adults, who resonate around 10Hz (alpha).

I’m sure you’ve always wondered how reliable Granger causality of source reconstructed MEG really is. Better yet, you surely wonder how to improve it.
