Some of these I haven't heard of and will definitely check out! I own Hyperion but haven't read it yet, good to see a positive about my choice!

Been trying to branch out my reading from 95% fantasy, I have started reading more genres. For sci-fi I've really only read C. S. Lewis' Space Trilogy and enjoyed it mostly. I'm currently reading Asimov's Foundation. I'd love other recommendations. 📚💙

I'm so excited to start this one! I got gifted it for Christmas but we have to finish Pandemic Season 0 first!

I'm really loving what I'm hearing about the emphasis on "Hope" in the upcoming #Superman    film. #Tolkien also placed a huge importance on hope with his concept of "Estel". There seems to be less and less of both nowadays. We could all use some hope.

Thinking about Rohirrim's horse culture, I like to imagine they have tradition similar to Pasola. Preserved in Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara, it involves riders throwing blunt spears to each other; a harvest tradition of Marapu belief where horses are seen as sacred. 1/3

From Aragorn to the Ents and even Sauron, the songs make references to the movies in many ways, including following along with Howard Shore's music in places. My favorite is without a doubt "Gollum's Christmas" which even has a lovely music video on YouTube! 3/4

My favorite thing from LotR movie adaptation is the behind-the-scene details; the creativity and camaraderie. My favorite cast photo is Viggo Mortensen with a Thai actress, Fon, who is the scale double for Pippin.

Honest question: if the common airplane has two wings, one left and one right, why is a biplane considered to have two wings when it appears to have one left, one right, and one above?

This implies that Gondor uses Sundials to tell time. They mention clocks in the shire often, both at the beginning and end of the books. (Fun fact, Bilbo also had a barometer). In HoME, I believe it says Elves go from Sunset to sunset because of their reverence of the moon. 2/2

Based off of the chapters of LoTR in Gondor, they ran off of Sunrise. There is no mention of clocks in Gondor (in fact, Pippin makes an "o'clock" reference, then says the Gondorians don't call it that). Rather, they signal Sunrise with horns and ring bells every hour until horns signal sunset. 1/2
