I hadn’t seen The Ice Storm in many years and forgot that it was really another Ang Lee masterpiece. Such a moving ending that is both tragic and so beautiful.
Having a Criterion Channel night tonight and watching 3 new to me! Sliding Doors with Gwyneth Paltrow, Nine Months with Hugh Grant and Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore with Ellen Burstyn.
Body of Evidence time
The Ice Storm time
Summer of Sam time
Lazy Saturday after the gym
Throwback to Palm Springs fun with my two boyfriends. Need another visit to Santiago Resort.
Having a Criterion channel night tonight a revisiting Summer of Sam with Adrien Brody and The Ice Storm with Kevin Kline. Also watching Body of Evidence with Madonna for the first time.
RIP to the incredible Catherine O’Hara. One of the best “Mom stories” is this film. No matter how many hundred times I see I get emotional at this part.
Tonight’s movies. The Bride Came C.O.D, That Wonderful Urge and The Best of Everything.
Was so fun revisiting this taut noir tonight! Unique role for Rogers and she’s great in it.
Tonight!
A candy weakness for me! Less easy to find here in Canada in regular stores.
Talented! Looks great
Haha very fair!
Oh Van Heflin. The Prowler is a HUGE favorite noir though! Love that one.
I think it might be one of my favorite Johnson performances too. He’s very good.
I love Reed at the end of the film! It’s quite moving what she does and some beautiful scenes there. It has a satisfying, cathartic ending, in spite of a lot of dysfunction and tragedy before that.
It takes place in 1937 in London. Boyer plays a Spanish secret agent on a counter-fascist mission. Always been a huge fan of wartime films but with the news lately I’m wanting these stories all the more! I have quite a few I want to revisit.
Haha sorry I was too lazy to clarify that’s 3 films! Although that would be a great cast if they all were. The first with Bacall is solid. An attempt at a Casablanca war film but got nowhere near the attention. It isn’t that one obviously but it’s a fine WB one.
Such a favorite! LA has rarely been so uniquely and hauntingly captured. Enjoy!!
Watching tonight
Remembering the iconic Paul Newman on his birthday today.
TCM’s stars of the month this year! Has Marilyn ever been before? Exciting list! #TCMParty
So glad I FINALLY saw this classic tonight. What an iconic character. Yes very much her signature role, as Ben said, for sure. #TCMParty
