When my daughter outgrew her starter violin, my dad gave it to her.

Anyway, when I picked it up today the guy who worked on it started telling me about it, that it was just a folk violin, probably made in somebody’s shop. (I told him what I knew about this 125-year-old instrument.) 4/5

This was around 1900, when he came over from Norway. Not entirely sure if he built it there or here, but my dad thought it made the trip across with him. It spent about 50 years unplayed in my grandfather’s Nanaimo basement before my dad inherited it in 2007. 3/5
